Your practice is yours. Everything you do in Shem — candles lit, prayers set down, memorials kept, cards drawn, your birth date and the angel it names — is stored only on your device, in your browser's local storage. We run no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, and no ads. We do not collect, store, sell, or share personal data.
Your birth date, drawn cards, candle and rosary records, memorial names and photos, prayers, journal entries, and settings never leave your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing site data erases them permanently; we hold no copy and cannot restore them.
If you grant location permission, your coordinates are used on your device to compute sunrise, sunset, and the planetary hours. They are not transmitted to us or anyone else. The app works without this permission.
When you ask the Book of Raziel a question, the text of that question is sent over an encrypted connection through our relay to an AI language-model service (Anthropic) to compose the reply. Questions are processed transiently to generate the answer and are not used to build a profile of you. Do not include personal identifying information in questions.
The Hearth membership and Day Pass are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details. Purchase state is kept on your device. Manage or cancel subscriptions in the Google Play app.
If you enable the Daily Light reminder, a push subscription token is registered so the reminder can be delivered. It identifies your device's push endpoint only and is used for nothing else.
Shem is intended for users aged 13 and over.
